One more year, Fira Barcelona’s commitment to Nutrition Without Borders has recovered food surpluses produced during the celebration of the Mobile World Congress, held from 22th to 25th February.
On 2016 Barcelona has counted again with the great event of the Mobile World Congress, an event of great dimensions that has provided a great impact on the city. Fira Barcelona‘s commitment to social action and reducing food waste allowed Nutrition Without Borders, under the NSF project BCN shares its food, retrieve and distribute food surpluses that occurred during the congress.
During the days of the Mobile World Congress, NSF was in charge of recovering food surpluses generated in the famous event. The NGO carried out the collection, nutritional assessment and analysis of the food, that were distributed and consumed in optimal conditions of hygiene and food safety to the benefited organizations.
This year 17 social organizations working with groups in situations of poverty and social exclusion in the city of Barcelona benefited and received food cooked over the Mobile World Congress. In total we have recovered 1.700 kg of food, which have benefited over 4.000 people from the beneficiary entities of the BCN shares its food project.
