As part of the project "Reducing waste while fostering sustainable food environments"—an initiative launched under the Government of Catalonia's Strategic Food Plan (PEAC)—an event was held to highlight the actions carried out jointly with partners from the European project FoodCLIC.
The event served as a forum for meeting, exchange, and reflection among participating organizations, professionals, and local stakeholders. The goal was to share lessons learned and emphasize the importance of collaborative work in moving towards healthier, more sustainable, and inclusive food environments.

During the session, an exhibition created by NWB—in collaboration with the Conreu Sereny cooperative and the organization Unió Segones Oportunitats—was displayed to raise awareness about food waste and healthy, sustainable eating. Several workshops on these same topics were held, aimed at promoting more responsible consumption habits and sharing practical strategies to prevent food waste in daily life. Additionally, NSF director Núria Camps gave a talk presenting the project's activities, placing special emphasis on initiatives to recover and repurpose surplus food for social purposes.

The event also provided an opportunity to share the results achieved during the initial implementation phase of the food surplus recovery program in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Through collaborative efforts involving social organizations, public authorities, donor establishments, and volunteers, over 8,000 kg of food have been recovered. This initiative has supported more than 80 families, prevented perfectly good food from going to waste, and simultaneously contributed to strengthening social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

This event reaffirms the need to continue fostering partnerships among various stakeholders to move towards a food system that is fairer, more resilient, and environmentally friendly. Preventing food waste not only helps reduce environmental impact but also serves as a crucial tool for guaranteeing the right to healthy, high-quality food for the entire population.
